NFCC 2024 Season Awards
The annual NFCC awards evening was held on Saturday evening at the New Forest Inn. Thank you to Lucy Greehy and Joe Shepherd for organising a great social evening. A list of prize winners is below, well done to all. For those who couldn’t make the evening who have won awards, please contact Joe Shepherd to arrange the collection of your prizes.
Gary Lock was once again the fastest on a TT bike taking home several awards for efforts across a range of distances:
- BAR (Long), 25/50/100 with new PBs in the 25 and 50
- The Roger Bacon Cup for the fastest 25 in a time of 55:33
- The Golden Jubilee Cup for the fastest 100 in a time of 04:11:45
- The Wareham Cup for the fastest 50 in a time of 01:54:18
Ben George won the Tim Millward Trophy for the 10 series (division 1) and in doing so also won the Cook Cup for the fastest combined time across the 5 main courses used by the club.
Graham Sharman won The Rhinefield Trophy for the 10 series (division 2).
Guy Smith, who narrowly missed out on the 10 series win to Ben, won the New Knightwood Trophy for his overall victory in the road bike series.
Eloise Knight was the recipient For the first time since 2013 of the Knightwood trophy for fastest junior rider over three 10-mile time trials. Well done to for a successful first season of time trialling.
Sien vdP was the inaugural winner of the new Margaret Read Trophy. A trophy for 1st female in the road bike series. This new award has been dedicated to Margaret Read, a stalwart of the club since 1957 without whom time trials in the forest would not be the same.
Sien vdP also took home the HE Figgures Bowl for the female fastest combined 10/10/25. Her time-trialling success also extends to the longer events taking home the Johnson Challenge Trophy for 12hr time trials with Sien setting new club records last summer for both 12hr and 24hr events of 230.08 and 390.46 miles respectively.
Paul Lockyer won the New Forest Circuits Shield for the 15 challenge as the best-performing rider across the three 15 challenge events.
Emma Shepherd won the Roger Bacon Cyclocross trophy for her 2nd place in the senior women’s category in the Wessex Cyclocross league. Jay Tarrant also deserves a mention for his excellent 3rd place in the V40 league.
Reece Dawson was awarded the Road Champion trophy for 2024 for accumulating the most BC points across the season.
Lucy Greehy was awarded the Most Improved Rider trophy after a brilliant comeback from injury.
Phil Harris took home he most prestigious club award of Mechanic of the Year.
Phil Grant took home the Weekend Rouleur Award – another new award this year recognising the weekend rider of the year (as nominated by the ride leaders).
Joe Shepherd was awarded The Hincheslea trophy for Club Person of the Year in recognition of all his hard work behind the scenes.
Graham Fletcher was awarded the prestigious Golden Chamois Cream for the most recorded distance in a calendar year, covering 23,355km (14,515m)
