Wessex CX 24-25 Rd.12: Crow
Once again New Forest helped to organise the final round of the Wessex cyclocross league, which was held on Sunday at Crow, despite yet another storm.
A big thank you goes out to all those involved in the event over the weekend, especially with the weather. Hopefully everyone has now dried off and warmed up.
Mud was the order of the day, luckily not too thick thanks to the rain. A hard uphill start into the strong wind led into some sweeping turns before the hairpins started. A steep uphill section became a run before the riders headed into the woods for some tricky thick mud and roots. Well done to everyone who raced in such tough conditions.
Jay and Matt both got off to a good start, possibly in an attempt to get warm. Both rode well in the tricky conditions but the cold and the deteriorating course slowed them both down throughout the race. Well done to both for persevering and finishing the season strong. Jay finished 5th, with Matt in 27th.
Emma got off to a decent start and managed to overtake a few more riders on the first lap. Some great riding (and running) kept her in a good position, only dropping one place on the last lap when the cold and tired legs took their toll. Emma finished 6th overall, 2nd senior.
