Race Report: Wessex CX Rd. 3 – Foxhills
A number of NFCC riders took part in the 3rd round of the Wessex Cyclo-cross league last Sunday at Foxhill Motocross track. The course was a long one with a number of challenging technical sections and the dry conditions meant the course ran fast and the dirt sections were extremely slippy.
Emma Clayton made use of her running legs on a nasty set of steps and off camber sections, unrideable for all but the best riders, to gain places throughout. Emma finished 27th overall and 11th in her category in what was her first ever mass start bike race!
Catherine Pascoe finished 35th overall and 8th in her category, she said it was the toughest of the three rounds so far.
Matthew Knight represented the club in the men’s V40 race, finishing 56th in what was a very large field.
After a slip during a sighting lap, Joe Shepherd unfortunately only managed 3 laps in the senior race before retiring with a sore knee and bent derailleur hanger.
The next round is in Reading where Joe and Catherine will be looking to continue to improve on their performances.
