The weather didn’t stop the ‘Summer’ Cyclo-cross events. Catherine Pascoe trekked to Marlborough College to try out her brand new bike, and was 5th woman.

New – a report from Barry on the Saturday ride on 28th July.

‘The normal road ride was cancelled due to the very high winds forecast (50MPH) making it unsafe for group riding. Despite it being July, we went for one of our winter options for an off road ride. So, the plan was changed to a 90Km route mainly on the forest trails with a minimum of road to link those trails. The mix of bikes was 50/50 cross / MTB. After just 30 mins Barry got a nasty split in his rear tyre that couldn’t be repaired at the roadside so Julie was called out to rescue. The rest of the riders returned to Barry’s house for an additional coffee stop where by luck Julie had baked a batch of scones, so an additional stop was made whilst Barry did a bike change. Then back on the trails for a very enjoyable ride. We had one other puncture which Phil J dealt with in very quick time.

Most of the riders did around 90-100Km on the trails but our regular mile monster Phil G managed over 160Km so chapeau to him – again! ‘

Second TT goes ahead

Seven riders braved deceptively sunny but very chilly, windy conditions. Barry Hards in full TT kit came home in first place, Phil Jones the only other rider to come close to his time. George Weller (Junior) took part in his first TT and chose a tough day to do so. See Gerry’s photos in the […]

Wind scuppers first TT

In spite of a good number of volunteer marshals, the wind prevented the first club TT of the year taking place due to a fallen tree on the course. Hopefully the weather will improve for next weekend.
