Weekend Round-up 19th August – NFCC win Arrow Open

Bournemouth Arrow Chris Brading Memorial TTT

With no NFCC team entered for the two-up TT, the club fielded a good entry for the solo event. Conditions were blustery, slightly harder going on the way out. Traffic wasn’t ideal, but from the editor’s point of view, the only hold ups were around Sopley as usual.

Aron Kelly ( 12th place overall 23.43) commented that it was the slowest that he had ever done on the course. Stuart Peckham (11th place overall 23.42) said that the conditions were tough, just pipping Aron by 1 second. Sacha Ring (7th place overall 22.41) couldn’t hang around until the end, but completed the event without a puncture so had to be pleased after his recent run of bad luck. Antony Green (2nd overall 21.20) took a second off his recent best time for the course. Paul Lockyer, outright winner in 21.08 commented that he was pleased to have beaten a certain ‘old aged pensioner’.

There was no official team prize, but with all the team doing well in the overall results, we would have won it.

Inaugural Sunday Ride

Report from Phil harris.

‘On Sunday The NFCC held its inaugural new Sunday club ride. 12 riders set out in windy, slightly damp but warm conditions for a 50K loop from Brockenhurst. The group contained a good mix of cycling veterans and newcomers with a few club regulars thrown in. The group maintained a gentle pace with a few stops to allow for the backmarkers to re-join and we completed the route in just over 2 hours of riding. Six of the group rewarded themselves with a nice cup of coffee in Brockenhurst. We hope to see even more riders out next week’

Club Barbecue

Check your email boxes or the Facebook page for details. Maggie is hosting the event post the Sunday TT next weekend. Please let Stewart Ward know if you intend to be there.

And….if you have any bike bits, why not bring them along for swap or sale!

As usual if I have missed anyone out contact

Second TT goes ahead

Seven riders braved deceptively sunny but very chilly, windy conditions. Barry Hards in full TT kit came home in first place, Phil Jones the only other rider to come close to his time. George Weller (Junior) took part in his first TT and chose a tough day to do so. See Gerry’s photos in the […]

Wind scuppers first TT

In spite of a good number of volunteer marshals, the wind prevented the first club TT of the year taking place due to a fallen tree on the course. Hopefully the weather will improve for next weekend.
