Peckham powers to dominant victory

In fairly benign warm conditions the last New Forest CC handicap TT of the season was run on the revised P304 25 mile course, running through Crow, Bisterne, Sopley and Bransgore.

There was a fairly low turnout for the event, which meant that handicap points were up for grabs.
There was also a relatively high attrition rate as four of the eighteen starters failed to finish the event.

Stuart Peckham’s fine form this season showed no sign of waning and was desperately close to breaking the hour for the 25 mile course, with a fabulous time of 01:00:18, a course not renown for blisteringly fast times.
Second place overall went to Martin Beale of VC St. Raphael in 01:03:19 just edging NFCC’s James Bannister into third with a time of 01:03:36.

The handicap points were won by Tom Butler (3), Stuart Peckham (2) and the returning Peter Weaver (1) with a fine ride.

Other times, NFCC first: Bob Dowling 01:07:28, Richard Mason 01:09:41, Phil Jones 01:11:18, Nick Tattersall 01:11:54, Alex Setchell 01:13:13, Peter Weaver 01:13:54, Tom Butler 01:14:28, Sacha Ring – Punc DNF, Elliot Wilks DNF, Chris Jolliffe DNF.
Privates: Nick Austin 01:04:33, Ben Byrne 01:04:47, Robert York 01:11:56, Ben Clifford 01:12:40, Stuart Grace DNF
