This weeks group ride was delayed until 10am to lessen the risk of ice and we were rewarded with a sunny if somewhat bracing days riding. We set off from the usual meet point on Fibbards Road, Brockenhurst towards the famous Lepe Loop and Calshot at a steady winter pace before making our way to the Burley coffee stop via Bucklers Hard and Pilley. It was even warm enough to sit outside at the Cider Pantry without feeling too cold. Due to the late start, the ride then split with some riders returning towards Brockenhurst and then home and some choosing to extend the ride into another century. The “can’t say no group” descended Braggers before heading to Nomansland via Ringwood and tackling a stiffening North Westerly in the process. The final leg sent us off in search of a “99” ice cream at Hatchet Pond but we was to be sadly disappointed. It was another well attended NFCC group ride with around 14 members taking part and enjoying the winter sunshine. The standard ride was around 60 miles at 16.5mph and the extended version around 100 miles at 17.5mph, giving riders a choice of distance and pace depending on their preference or requirements.
