Paul Lockyer capped off a stellar first season as a New Forest CC member by taking the Hill Climb victory at Bolderwood last Sunday. The hill climb is a short brutal affair where maximum effort is required for just a few minutes. NFCC use the climb from Millyford Bridge to the top of Bolderwood as this year’s hill climb which averages 6.2% gradient.
Paul completed the climb in 4 minutes and 5 seconds and maxxed out at a mammoth 925W, some thirty seconds clear of runner up, Stewart Ward Who recently ascended Le Mont Ventoux in a club record time couldn’t close the gap to Paul. “I thought I might have a shot today, but Paul has been class all year”, Stewart commented after the event. Tom Pugh gave Stewart a real shock as he closed in to a second of Stewart’s time in 4 minutes 36 seconds.
