A slightly warmer morning than the last few, but a rising easterly wind, at least helpful on the leg back from Ipley. A full complement of helpers, meaning a reduced field but made for a smooth running event. Volunteer marshals are also coming forward for the 10 series – don’t forget, you need one marshal session to qualify, but late volunteers may find they are forced to do one that they would prefer to ride!
Fastest home was Richard Parker, beating second claim Mike Anderson in his French racing team colours. Richard Mason claimed another final step of the podium. Young George Weller wasn’t put off by the previous week, but his mechanic obviously needs to brush up his skills and remember to tighten cleats! Stuart Peckham rode the Poole Wheelers ‘ski-slope’ event, recording a time of 23.25 for 12th place.
Don’t forget the Round the Forest Open on the 5th May. John Burridge will need helpers, or represent the club and ride.
