Birthday ride – 77 years

Hi fellow club men and ladies, why not enjoy a nce Sunday ride round the forest lanes ? To celebrate the club’s 77th birthday there are still some things older than me, not a lot.

Date for your diary 19th June  10.00 hours at Sway war memorial on B3055. entry £2.00.includes free tea and cakes at finish in church hall Tiptoe Church. Bring your friends and family all welcome estimated finish time 14.30 – 15.00 Distance 105 kms. route enclosed.

Please give your entries to Margaret Read at race sign on if you want to ride so we know how many for food and drink, we don’t want to run out of cake.

Start at Sway war memorial and proceed down Pitmore Lane to take first Left into Shirley Holms, at junction with A337 turn Right and immediately Left into Rope Hill.

Carry on over Boldre bridge and up the hill to Pilley where Right into School Lane SP Portmore, at Southlands School turn Right down the hill and straight on at next two junctions to Undershore Road by the ferry terminal to South Baddesley and East End.

Over cattle grid and turn Right (7mls) SP Sowley and Bucklers Hard 5 at T junction turn Right  to St Leonards where next Right SP Bucklers Hard ¾  follow on through to Beaulieu to turn Right onto B3054 to Hilltop. Turn Right and take the road SP Holbury 2 ½ to Rollestone Crossroads straight across into Newlands Road by Gang Warily and Left into Slades Hill and then next Right to Calshot (21 ½ mls). Circle one way system and retrace to take the next Left down Stanswood Road  SP Lepe at T junction turn Left to Lepe seafront.

Follow road along to take the next Left on the bend to Inchmery and thence to Exbury, Hilltop and Left to Beaulieu. At Junction turn Right onto B3056 to Lyndhurst turn Left A35 and follow through to Goose Green where follow on the A35 to Swan Green (GREAT CARE)  turn Right to Emery Down and then Left at The New Forest Inn SP Bolderwood 3 by Canadian War Memorial (43mls) under A31 and carry on past The Red Shoot to Moyles Court (49 mls) by The Alice Lisle to Turn Left on the bend at Poulner and Left again to cross the bridge over the A31 Right and then Left into Eastfield Lane and Hightown Road where Right at the Elm Tree into Crow Lane.

Straight over at Crow Corner and follow road towards Bransgore, Left at Shirley crossroads into Braggers Lane to Thorney Hill Crossroads where Left SP Burley 2 . In Burley turn Right up the hill and cross Goatspen Plain by Holmesley tearooms to turn Right at end of old railway line after the Cattle Grid to The Rising Sun at Wootton where Left to Tiptoe Church and Finish 104 kms
